Our role

We are located in Pictou County, Nova Scotia – a region of the world lucky enough to be situated on Nova Scotia's civil yet rugged Northern Shore, smacked against the glorious Northumberland Strait. You'd better believe spell check drove itself mad over at least two of those words, and that – friends – is how you know you're dealing with the real world.   

We are a figurative stone's throw from PEI, 158km outside of Halifax City Hall (stay with us, that's important later. You'll like it. Swear.), an approximate hour from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), and literal minutes from Trenton Airport (YTN).   

There's hotels, caterers, fine dining, many a fast food chain, a local take on pizza the locals will insist you try, shopping, laundromats, copy/printers, and rental cars – it's a safe bet, you won't do without. There's shorelines, there's forests, fields, farms, and old mines; warehouses, rinks, office space, and medical facilities. It's old ballast-stone buildings and modern steel and glass low-rises; it's commercial zones, industry hot spots, and houses from the 17/18 whatevers to the modern day. It's four small towns that should be one slightly bigger small town and one other small town off on its own, and loads of little villages and hamlets doing things their way. If you really want one, we could even find you a lighthouse.   

It's been referred to as “The Birth Place of New Scotland”, but it's home to folks – and the descendants of folks – from all over in addition to a proud community of First Nations. We'd be lying if we said it was a hotbed of TV and Film Production, but if I was a good liar there wouldn't be a need for this site. Fact is, it's an area of the province scarcely captured by a professional lens... it's an untainted, undiscovered backdrop ready to play a key role in your next production. 

But what does Silverfish Entermedia have to offer you? Everything. If we don't have it, we can get it. If we don't do it, we can hire it. We know a lot of guys who knows a guys, and we know some of those guys too.   

In plain jargon: we can be a boots on the ground production partner on the Northern Shore, or elsewhere in Nova Scotia. We can do locations work and scouting, coordination services, talent wrangling, crew hiring, video/audio editing, provide dailies, AD work, directing, even a bit of lighting – we have a hot little LED based lighting rig just begging to be put to work. Literally. It asked for that to be included in this copy. Says it's “totally up for being rented.” That's loyalty for you, huh? 

Now, chances are if you're dropping in and ready to roll, speed, and spark, you've got a script in hand. But, it might as well be mentioned that SFEM's owner is a recovering journalist, writer, and a former script writer/editor/doctor with a history of partnership with a major player in the streaming world... so there's that too.
